Competition rules

NEXTGEN follows the Swedish FA's laws of the game and the national playing formats for each age group. Below is a summary of the most important rules, together with the tournament-specific adaptations that may apply.

Playing time

Playing time and format are adapted to each age group and follow the Swedish FA's national playing formats. The exact match length is stated on each tournament's own page.

Results & tables

Results, tables and points are used only in the age groups where they are permitted. For younger teams, matches are played according to the applicable rules for children's football.

Tournament format

The format can consist of a group stage, placement matches or play-offs depending on the age group. The exact set-up is stated on each tournament's own page.

Referees

Matches are led by experienced, capable referees, so that they are played the way they should be.

Dispensation & player eligibility

Players must be eligible under the applicable rules. Any dispensations or tournament-specific exceptions must be approved by NEXTGEN in advance.

Fair play

Respect for team-mates, opponents, referees and officials is a natural part of NEXTGEN. Unsporting behaviour can lead to action from the competition management.

Ask the competition management

What happens if we want to protest a result?

Protests are submitted in writing to the competition management no later than 30 minutes after the final whistle, together with a protest fee that is refunded if the protest is upheld. The competition management's decision is final.

How is a walkover handled?

A team that fails to appear without a valid reason loses the match 0–3 (walkover). Repeated walkovers can lead to exclusion without a refund.

Do the Swedish FA's rules apply?

Yes. In addition to these tournament-specific rules, the Swedish FA's laws of the game and the regulations of the relevant regional association apply.
